Patient Safety Companion (Float Pool)

Job Summary

The Patient Safety Companion will remain with a patient for a designated timeframe to maintain the patient’s safety (i.e. prevention of falls, wandering or disruptions of patient care).

Responsibilities

• Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents.
• Remain with assigned patient at all times.
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency, escalating for the appropriate response.
• Aid with ambulation/toileting/transportation.
• Perform direct patient care duties as assigned under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
• Perform duties in a manner that is consistent with established policies and procedures.
• Document in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in ongoing educational activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience

• Minimum Required: 1 year work experience
• PREFERRED/DESIRED: 1 year work experience within healthcare setting

Education

• Minimum Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent

Skills

• Communicate clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency.
• Write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.

Licenses

• Minimum Required: BLS within 15 days
