Responsibilities
- Define and maintain enterprise reference architectures, standards, and guardrails for patient‑facing and point‑of‑care room technologies.
- Lead solution architecture for exam‑room and patient‑room capabilities (e.g., patient engagement, in‑room interaction, bedside workflows).
- Establish repeatable integration patterns between patient‑facing solutions and enterprise platforms (clinical systems, identity, network, infrastructure).
- Perform architectural assessments of patient‑facing vendors/solutions and document design decisions, tradeoffs, and target‑state architectures.
- Reduce fragmentation and rework by promoting standard designs and shared platforms across facilities and care settings.

- Technologies used directly by patients or clinicians in exam rooms and patient rooms
- In‑room / bedside interaction and patient engagement capabilities at the point of care
- Architectural integration with clinical systems (e.g., EHR-related workflows), identity, networking, infrastructure, and security services
- Vendor/solution architecture assessments and enterprise standards for patient‑facing room technologies
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Enterprise and Solution Architecture: Demonstrated ability to develop enterprise and solution architectures, reference models, technology standards, design patterns, and architectural guardrails for complex technology environments.
- Healthcare Technology Architecture: Strong understanding of technologies used within patient rooms, exam rooms, and other point-of-care environments, including patient engagement, bedside, smart-room, clinical workflow, and connected-device solutions.
- Systems Integration: Ability to design scalable integration approaches across clinical applications, identity and access management, networking, infrastructure, security, devices, and other enterprise platforms.
- Architecture Governance: Ability to establish and apply architecture principles, standards, review criteria, and governance checkpoints to promote consistency, interoperability, scalability, security, and supportability across the organization.
- Technical Assessment and Decision-Making: Skilled in evaluating technologies and vendor solutions, identifying architectural risks and dependencies, analyzing alternatives and tradeoffs, and documenting architecture recommendations and decisions.
- Clinical Workflow Understanding: Ability to understand clinical and patient workflows and translate operational and patient experience requirements into effective technology architecture and design solutions.
- Security, Privacy, and Risk: Working knowledge of information security, privacy, data protection, and regulatory considerations applicable to healthcare and patient-facing technology environments.
- Clinical and Facilities Technology Integration: Ability to design and integrate technology within complex clinical and physical environments, considering clinical workflows, room design, construction requirements, network and infrastructure dependencies, medical/biomedical technologies, patient safety, security, and operational supportability.
- Strategic Technology Planning: Ability to assess current-state environments, define target-state architectures, identify technology gaps and dependencies, and develop practical modernization and technology roadmaps.
- Communication: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex architectural concepts, risks, standards, and recommendations to technical, clinical, operational, and executive audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or senior technical design roles (healthcare or regulated environments preferred).
- Experience designing solutions that connect physical room‑based technologies with enterprise IT services and clinical workflows.
- Strong understanding of privacy, security, and compliance considerations for patient‑facing technologies and environments that handle sensitive data.
- Proven ability to operate independently, document architecture decisions, and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Innovation mentality.
- Experience with smart room, bedside, or patient engagement technologies and point‑of‑care workflows.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability and integration concepts (e.g., interface patterns and secure data exchange approaches).
- Experience partnering across IT, clinical, and facilities teams in build/renovation or multi‑site deployment contexts.
- Software engineering and software prototyping experience.
- Hardware and software product management skills.
