Patient Representative | Part-Time | City Gate Urgent Care | Every 3rd Weekend Rotation

About the role

The Patient Representative will be responsible for performing registration tasks in various Medical Office Buildings (MOBs) at Memorial Health. Duties include interviewing patients, gathering necessary information, and inputting data into the Hospital Information System (HIS).

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients on the phone and in person to gather registration information.
• Inputs information into the HIS during the patient interview.
• Obtains and reviews insurance cards and patient identification.
• Identifies and documents veteran status, and ensures proper VA authorization for scheduled services.
• Verifies insurance plan eligibility and benefits, and secures prior authorization for outpatient testing and procedures.
• Completes medical necessity verification and provides Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN) as needed.
• Ensures accurate patient identification and avoids duplicate medical records.
• Notifies clinical departments of patient arrivals and delays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Personal computer/data entry experience preferred.
• Six months working in the healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
• Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
• Teambuilding skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• American Heart Association’s BLS certification within 60 days of employment.
• Behavioral Health De-escalation Training within six months of hire.
