Patient Registration Specialist (PRS)

Job Summary

This role is an entry-level position responsible for supporting basic front-line registration and customer service tasks in the hospital. Under close supervision, this role will learn to perform patient registration, verify insurance information and provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate data collection and positive patient experience at the point of entry.

Responsibilities

• Supports basic front-line registration and customer service tasks in the hospital.
• Verifies insurance information and provides customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Accurately collects and verifies patient information, insurance coverage, and financial requirements to support patient care and timely billing.
• Operates the hospital switchboard, monitors safety alarms, and provides customer service to patients and visitors of a higher acuity (emergency, international).

Qualifications

• PRS 1: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Previous clerical or customer service preferred.
• PRS 2: High School Diploma or Equivalent, One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience, 6 months performing an administrative role or PRS1 at BRH, Previous clerical or customer service in a medical setting preferred.
• PRS 3: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Two (2) years of clerical or customer service experience, 6 months PRS2 at BRH or in hospital patient registration at another facility.

Pay

• Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
• External Hires: Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience. PRS 1 starts at $21.59 per hour. PRS 2 starts at $23.63 per hour. PRS 3 starts at $24.81 per hour.
