Highlights
- The Patient Registration Specialist shall be responsible for pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, referral to financial counseling, and point of service collections.
- The Specialist shall ensure that data gathered and entered to the computer system(s) of patient demographic and benefit information is accurate.
- The Specialist shall verify benefits eligibility and limitations, coordination of benefits, and determine and collect the patient's financial responsibility at the point of service.
- This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Education / Experience
- A high school graduate or equivalent required.
- An associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
- Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
- Training experience a plus.
- Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
- Strong team leadership skills, strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to develop trust with leaders in the organizations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient computer skills, proven track record of successful performance.
- Able to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions.
- Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
