Patient Registrar PRN

About the Role

As a Registrar, you will be responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, interviewing patients for pertinent account information, and verifying insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients at workstations or bedside to obtain all necessary account information, utilizing carts/computers on wheels for bedside registration.
• Provide exemplary customer service and ensure charts are completed and accurate.
• Verify all insurance coverage and obtain pre-certification/authorization.
• Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
• Ensure all necessary signatures are obtained for treatment, release of medical information, assignment of insurance benefits, and payment of services.
• Process patient charts according to paperwork flow needs and established productivity standards.
• Interview incoming patients, relatives, or responsible individuals to obtain identifying, demographical, insurance, and financial information.
• Assign Insurance Plans (IPlans) accurately and verify insurance benefits.
• Determine pre-certification/authorization status via online or other resources; initiate authorization if required.
• Enter all information and authorization/referral numbers into the registration system.
• Secure necessary signatures from legally responsible parties and obtain copies of identification and insurance cards.
• Explain policies regarding services, pricing, insurance billing, and payment of account.

Requirements

• 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
