About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Rio Grande Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services. As a Registrar, you will be responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, interviewing patients for pertinent account information, and verifying insurance coverage.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients at workstations or at bedside to obtain all necessary account information using carts/computers on wheels.
- Provide exemplary customer service and ensure charts are completed and accurate.
- Verify all insurance and obtain pre-certification/authorization.
- Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
- Ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained for treatment.
- Process patient charts according to paperwork flow needs and established productivity standards.
- Interview incoming patients, relatives, or responsible individuals to obtain identifying, demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Assign Insurance Plans (IPlans) accurately.
- Verify insurance benefits and determine pre-certification/authorization status via online or other resources. If required and not obtained, initiate via Passport, online, or phone call.
- Enter all information and authorization/referral numbers into the registration system.
- Secure all signatures necessary for treatments, release of medical information, assignment of insurance benefits, and payment of services from legally responsible parties.
- Obtain copies of necessary identification and insurance cards.
- Understand and explain policies regarding services, pricing, insurance billing, and payment of account.
Requirements
- 1 year of related experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
