About the Role
OSS Health is seeking a Patient Registrar (Clinic) to efficiently process all patient office visits according to the organization’s standards. This role is key to delivering a 5-star “OSSOME” experience in a culture of excellence, teamwork, and community support.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, varied hours between 6:30 am – 5:00 pm (40 hrs per week). Weekend on-call rotation at York and travel to other OSS offices as needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients/visitors in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Register patients for scheduled visits with the provider.
- Ensure all demographic, insurance information, and required forms are gathered and entered into the medical record.
- Scan patient identification and insurance cards; verify benefits and eligibility.
- Verify managed care referrals are on file when necessary, per insurance requirements.
- Collect copays and outstanding balances from patients.
- Answer telephones promptly, identify self, and direct calls as appropriate.
- Provide coverage for other receptionists/greeters during absences.
- Show flexibility in scheduling, including work location and on-call assignments.
- Demonstrate flexibility in performing additional responsibilities that improve patient care and practice well-being.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward patients, co-workers, and physicians.
- Keep work area orderly and neat.
- Handle difficult situations tactfully.
- Issue work and/or gym notes.
- Schedule appointments.
- Reconcile daily payments.
- Participate in staff meetings, even when held outside of normal scheduled working hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- One year of experience in the medical field preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical and billing procedures preferred.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks in a high-volume practice.
- Understanding of procedures associated with managed care plans.
- Professional and effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to deal with many different personalities.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team and assist other team members as needed.
