About the Role
Nursing Resource Pool: Patient safety attendants perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They will be working with high-risk suicide precaution patients.
Patient Safety Attendants will remain with and observe the assigned patient at all times. The patient must be in direct observation. Companions will arrange meal and break time with the patient's nurse to ensure the patient is never unattended.
Responsibilities
- Setting up food trays, assisting with eating
- Assisting patient with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
- Offering fluids
- Accompanying patient on walks
- Assisting patient to bathroom or chair
- Providing diversionary activities
- Replacing nasal cannula
- Re-applying intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs)
Requirements
- High school diploma
- CPR or BLS Certification
- Able to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions
Schedule
- Shifts: 3pm–11:30pm, 11pm–7:30am
- Status: Full-time, Part-time
- Every other weekend and holiday per year required for full-time and part-time team members
