Patient Observation Assistant Float Pool
About the role
Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Sitter for their West Campus Float Pool position. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced hospital setting, ensuring the safety of patients at risk of harm to themselves or others, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).
Responsibilities
- Remain with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shift
- Aid the RN in providing a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees
- Assist in identifying patient responses to care and report these to the RN to achieve desired outcomes
- Be willing and able to learn new knowledge and skills to enhance individual, team, and organizational performance
- Attend mandatory training and development activities and meet health and safety requirements by deadlines
- Stay updated on unit/hospital information and job expectations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of basic nursing care
- Ability to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levels
- One year experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, or Psychiatric Residential placement programs
- Inpatient hospital experience or enrollment in an accredited Nursing education program
- BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association
- CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, or Psychiatric Residential placement programs
- Inpatient hospital experience
- Enrolled in an accredited Nursing education program
