Patient Observation Assistant Float Pool

About the role

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Sitter for their West Campus Float Pool position. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced hospital setting, ensuring the safety of patients at risk of harm to themselves or others, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities

• Remain with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shift
• Aid the RN in providing a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees
• Assist in identifying patient responses to care and report these to the RN to achieve desired outcomes
• Be willing and able to learn new knowledge and skills to enhance individual, team, and organizational performance
• Attend mandatory training and development activities and meet health and safety requirements by deadlines
• Stay updated on unit/hospital information and job expectations

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of basic nursing care
• Ability to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levels
• One year experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, or Psychiatric Residential placement programs
• Inpatient hospital experience or enrollment in an accredited Nursing education program
• BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association
• CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, or Psychiatric Residential placement programs
• Inpatient hospital experience
• Enrolled in an accredited Nursing education program
