About the Unit
The Constant Observation Unit provides support to the In-patient and Emergency Center by allocating staff to supervise and monitor patients requiring continuous or one-to-one observation due to high risk of self-harm, aggression, or other safety concerns. This ensures patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities
The Patient Observation Aide, under the supervision of an RN, provides close observation of patients and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with activities of daily living, unless patient needs exceed the aide’s scope of practice.
- Receiving delegated patient care tasks from the RN, including awareness of the patient’s diagnosis, visual, auditory, or language barriers, and any special considerations (e.g., NPO status, bed alarms).
- Maintaining constant observation of the patient’s activity and behavior and communicating regularly with the nurse.

Employment Type: Part-time. Shift: Day. Weekly Scheduled Hours: Variable (up to 0.04 hours).
