Patient Navigator-Front Office Coordinator
About the role
The Patient Navigator at Healogics plays a crucial role in managing various front office functions and assisting the staff of the Wound Care Center (WCC). This position is essential for maximizing patient census, supporting staff through meetings, and ensuring smooth operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates with Center leadership to maximize daily patient census.
- Participates in staff meetings to support key functions within the Center.
- Greets patients and other visitors, answers and routes calls to appropriate staff.
- Maintains all patient communication needs including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment reminders.
- Works and schedules for providers according to the care continuum model.
- Obtains and verifies patient insurance information, including pre-certifications and pre-authorizations, and enters data in appropriate databases.
- Collects and enters patient charges in databases, verifies and reconciles charges as directed, prepares monthly patient survey data, and transmits to providers.
- Assembles new patient charts, maintains and files existing patient charts, and spot checks charts for data completeness and signatures.
- Schedules ancillary testing with other hospital departments.
- Arranges for patient transportation as needed.
- Maintains office equipment and supplies as needed, and medical supplies as directed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate's degree preferred. At least two (2) or more years of office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting, is required, along with prior medical coding experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), good customer, interpersonal, and communication skills, organization and time-management skills, basic math skills, attention to details, ability to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously are preferred. Ability to work with others and in a team environment is also required.
Qualifications
Candidates must be able to type 60 words per minute (wpm), view computer screens for extended periods, key frequently on a computer for 4 hours or more, read, communicate, detect sounds by ear, close, distance, and peripheral vision, lift/move items up to 75 pounds with equipment assistance, bend/stoop, write, and work in a patient care environment.
