About the role

Join a mission-driven team at the Mass General Cancer Institute (MGBCI) as a Patient Navigator. You will lead and participate in the intake process for new patients, provide case management services—including financial assessments, scheduling, and medical records coordination—and ensure timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. Your role will focus on patient advocacy, helping individuals access care while working alongside a dedicated team to deliver world-class cancer care with empathy and excellence.

You will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure a seamless, patient-centered experience by navigating the complexities of the healthcare system, coordinating resources, and improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and preferences are considered in care planning.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care services, appointments, and follow-up plans.
  • Assist patients in understanding and adhering to their care plans.
  • Identify and connect patients with healthcare and community resources, such as support groups, financial assistance programs, and transportation services.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, care plans, and resource referrals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare resources, community services, and patient advocacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and case management software.

Additional Details

This is a hybrid role based at 55 Fruit Street, with scheduled weekly hours of 40.

Pay

$23.34 - $33.37/hourly (Grade 5). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other factors. Offers may include comprehensive benefits, career advancement opportunities, differentials, premiums, bonuses, and recognition programs.
