About the Role
The Patient Greeter welcomes and assists patients, their families, and visitors entering the clinics. This role answers questions, provides information, and directs people to the appropriate clinic location, fostering a welcoming, caring, and family-like atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Cordially greets visitors and patients upon arrival.
- Ascertains patients’ and visitors’ needs and directs them accordingly.
- Aids patients and visitors by obtaining wheelchairs or other services as needed.
- Escorts or transports patients who need assistance to their destination within the clinic.
- Assists patients with minimal physical support for entering or exiting vehicles; refers patients requiring additional assistance to the clinical team.
- Assists patients in arranging transportation as needed.
- Keeps the front driveway clear and unobstructed for patient and visitor drop-off and pick-up.
- Contacts Security, Environmental Services, or Facilities Management for assistance when necessary.
- Monitors the overall appearance of the clinic entrance.
- Transports patients safely between positions (e.g., sitting to standing, pushing/pulling wheelchairs).
- Prioritizes patient safety, including preventing potential falls.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Performs duties accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintains high-level customer service in all interactions, including in-person, telephone, and telehealth applications.
- Exercises tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
- Strong organizational skills.
- May need to travel to support patient care at another GMG location.
- May require driving a company or personal vehicle; must pass a motor vehicle history check, possess a valid Texas Driver License, and provide proof of current insurance for mileage reimbursement.
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the assigned shift.
- Manual dexterity, ability to sit, stand, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, bend, and walk.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. without assistance.
- Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Qualifications
- English and Spanish proficiency preferred.
Work Environment
- Primarily in a clinical or office setting within a clinical environment.
- Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
- May work outdoors in conditions of heat, cold, wet, dust, or rain.
