Patient Financial Counselor
Overview
Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care, seeks an experienced Patient Financial Counselor in Englewood, at our Swedish location. This role is part of a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care and support to cancer patients.
Responsibilities
- Meet with patients to review and explain insurance coverage, estimated out-of-pocket costs, and financial responsibilities
- Educate and assist patients with copay assistance programs, grants, and other financial resources
- Collect patient balances in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
- Create and manage patient budget or payment plans tailored to individual needs
- Document financial discussions and actions clearly and accurately in the appropriate system
- Collaborate closely with front-end staff, billing, collections, and other revenue cycle team members to ensure continuity of care and financial accuracy
- Maintain a task-oriented approach while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
- Support team-based workflows and actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- At least 3 years experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient accounts, billing, or revenue cycle strongly preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage patients sensitively and professionally
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills
- Comfort with technology, EPM/EHR systems and financial platforms
Pay & Benefits
