About the role
Applies only to Emergency Department and BOS Digital Registration. Responsible for completing varied duties to support the revenue cycle, compliance, and patient experience by accurately and efficiently completing tasks in areas of registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput. This incumbent will be responsible for meeting individual collection goals. Maintains a close working relationship with all members of the clinical team to ensure a seamless and positive experience for both patients and caregivers. This incumbent is considered essential staff and must be able to work as needed on weekends, holidays, and during disastrous events. This position may require deployment of legal, ethical, and compliance-related documents that must be presented and thoroughly explained to the patient at the time of registration. Responsibilities
- Insurance verification using online portals and communication with insurance representatives to verify patient benefits.
- Collections: explain insurance details (deductibles, co-pays) to patients and collect any financial responsibility.
- Ensure accurate registrations by confirming patient information following strict guidelines (data integrity).
- Virtual Checkout: utilize video conferencing to complete registrations, obtain consent, and collect payments.
- Effectively collaborate with other departments and foster teamwork within your team.
- Handle a high volume of calls (around 1,000 calls daily) and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Participate in Zoom calls with patients, clinical teams, and leadership as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; Associate Degree preferred.
- Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced public health setting or Revenue Cycle setting with demonstrated experience in payment collection, such as billing, sales, and collection/customer service.
- In lieu of degree and/or experience, a highly motivated individual that can satisfactorily demonstrate and/or role play required skills in a professional manner with a clear and convincing ability to excel in the role.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Detail-oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, with excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and have an agile mindset.
Skills
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA).
- Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and EMR applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) preferred.

Pay
$17.02 - $20.59 per hour (depending on experience) + $1,000 sign-on bonus.
Schedule
- Monday – Sunday, 3 days a week with 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays.
- Remote after 1 week of on-site training in Town & Country (Miami-Dade).
