Patient Escorter-Transporter I

To provide transportation for patients and patient care items. During transport, ensure the safety and well-being of patients through the use of safety devices and close observation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, comfortable, and dignified patient transport while adhering to strict protocols and providing basic patient care needs during transit.
• Provide comfort items, maintain cleanliness, assist with personal needs, answer basic questions within policy, and adhere to safety regulations for medical equipment like oxygen and IVs.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain clean equipment and practice utmost safety precautions.
• Transport essential medical materials, such as lab specimens, surgical trays, medications (including IV admixtures), and DME equipment, while adhering to aseptic techniques when handling specimens.
• Use EPIC proficiently for managing transport requests, including logging in, utilizing information systems, acknowledging and completing jobs, entering delay codes, communicating via secure chat, and managing break/lunch times.
• Coordinate with the lead to ensure timely completion of transports.
• Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, including the dress code, attendance, meeting, and mandatory training requirements.
• Collaborate effectively within the department and with other organizational teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent or higher degree is required.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• No related work experience required.
• Current American Heart Association Heart Saver or higher certification required.
