About the role

The Patient Escort-Care Companion/Transporter plays a crucial role in patient care, recognizing and reacting to environmental safety factors, assisting patients with activities, recording care given, and transporting patients safely between departments.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient’s care.
• Assists patient with activities of daily living and basic personal care.
• Records care given to patient.
• Adheres to and supports policies, procedures and standards.
• Prepares and transports patients safely between hospital departments, using stretcher, wheelchair, bed and stroke chair as appropriate.
• Performs other job functions as assigned.

Requirements

• No formal education required.
• Preferred prior work experience.
• Knowledge of proper body mechanics.
• Ability to communicate verbally with others.
• Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers.
• Ability to organize and complete tasks.
• Ability to work with age-specific populations including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
