Patient Education Consultant
About the role
As a Patient Education Consultant at Tactile Medical, you will conduct in-person demonstrations and trainings with current and potential patients on our at-home therapy devices for lymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency, and respiratory illnesses. You will build rapport with patients by introducing our products, discussing financial options, closing sales, and ensuring patients can use their devices as prescribed. Demonstrations are completed in-person, while trainings may be delivered in-person or via telehealth. Both interactions require documentation based on the patient’s insurance and Tactile Medical’s requirements.
Travel up to 80% within your assigned territory is required.
Responsibilities
- Educate patients and/or caregivers on all aspects of device use, including donning and doffing garments, controller operation, following prescribed protocols, and initiating therapy sessions.
- Contact patients within service-level expectations to schedule and complete trainings and demonstrations.
- Responsible for direct sales to patients, including explaining financial responsibility, insurance coverage, and finalizing the sale.
- Provide clear verbal instruction during demonstrations or trainings, adapting to the patient’s specific needs (utilize adaptive techniques when necessary).
- Manage and respond appropriately to patient feedback or objections regarding the product, financial responsibility, or required paperwork.
- Prepare for trainings and demonstrations by confirming appointments, ensuring all equipment, supplies, and documentation are ready.
- Review, complete, and submit required paperwork with patients and answer questions.
- Collaborate with territory partners to facilitate order completion, including collecting signatures on prescriptions or other insurance-required documents.
- Identify, escalate, and communicate problems, questions, or additional patient support needs to the appropriate department.
- Use translation tools for patients where English is not their first language.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a patient-facing, education/training, or highly advanced customer service role.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work remotely and travel to patients in home, clinic, or virtual environments.
- Health-related certification or medical device/healthcare industry experience (preferred).

Pay
US Pay Range: $23.89 - $37.62 USD per hour. Offers may differ based on candidate location, job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.
