Vitreous Retina Macula Specialists of New Jersey, part of EyeCare Partners—the nation’s leading provider of clinically integrated eye care—seeks a Patient Coordinator in Millburn, NJ. Occasional travel to our Somerset, NJ office is required; mileage reimbursement is provided.

About the role

A Patient Coordinator acts as the first point of contact for patients, setting the tone for their visit through excellent care while performing administrative tasks to ensure a smooth check-in/out experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone).
  • Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave.
  • Answer phones (external and internal) with prompt, courteous service at all times.
  • Practice urgency with patients’ time and doctors’ schedules.
  • Manage patient flow in the office.
  • Know common fees for visits and collect correct payments.
  • Complete daily reconciliations, close the day, and count down the cash drawer.
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to interact courteously and professionally with all employees at all times.
  • Desire to gain industry knowledge and training.
  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
  • Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change.
  • Team-oriented and patient-focused, creating a positive work environment.
  • Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet business needs.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to multiple work locations with minimal notice.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Physical requirements

  • Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%).
  • Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and technology use.
  • Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus—required 100% of the time.
  • Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.

Pay

Competitive base pay.

Schedule

  • Full-time.
  • Offices open Monday–Friday 7:45 am–7:00 pm, Saturday 7:45 am–1:00 pm.
  • Shifts fall within these hours; must have open availability to work any shift.
  • May need to work slightly earlier or later as needed.
