Patient Coordinator

About the role

We are currently hiring for a Patient Coordinator at our Pinellas Park facility. This will be a full-time position. The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorization.
• Performs preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• Provides the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
• In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
• Ensures accuracy of patient records.
• May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
• May prepare medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
• Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
• May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
• Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire. For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
• As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
• Ability to work at several locations required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
• All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
