Patient Companion

About the role

Patient Safety Attendants perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They work with high-risk suicide precaution patients, ensuring continuous direct observation.

Responsibilities

• Setting up food trays and assisting with eating
• Assisting patients with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
• Offering fluids
• Accompanying patients on walks
• Assisting patients to the bathroom or chair
• Providing diversionary activities
• Replacing nasal cannulas
• Re-applying intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs)
• Remaining with and observing the assigned patient at all times
• Arranging meal and break times with the patient's nurse to ensure continuous observation

Schedule

Shifts available: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am. Every other weekend and holiday required for full-time and part-time team members.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• CPR or BLS Certification
• Ability to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions
