About the role
Patient Safety Attendants perform specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They work with high-risk suicide precaution patients, ensuring continuous direct observation.
Responsibilities
- Setting up food trays and assisting with eating
- Assisting patients with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
- Offering fluids
- Accompanying patients on walks
- Assisting patients to the bathroom or chair
- Providing diversionary activities
- Replacing nasal cannulas
- Re-applying intermittent compression devices (ICDs or SCDs)
- Remaining with and observing the assigned patient at all times
- Arranging meal and break times with the patient's nurse to ensure continuous observation
Schedule
Shifts available: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am. Every other weekend and holiday required for full-time and part-time team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- CPR or BLS Certification
- Ability to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions
