Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, checks oxygen levels, and temperature
• Aids patients with bathing, meals, toileting, and ambulation
• Provides one-on-one care for patients on suicide or safety precautions
• Performs basic clerical and technical clinical services
• Transports patients, supplies, and equipment within the facility
• Contributes to performance improvement activities
• Supports department/unit staff scheduling and covers lunch assignments
• Reviews medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurses of stat orders and medication changes
• Orders and stocks department/unit supplies and equipment
• Operates and maintains general office equipment
• Follows procedures for timely equipment repairs
• Supports streamlined, timely, and comprehensive admission, transfer, and discharge processes
• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors; assists with registration
• Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms, and performs safety/environmental rounds
• Participates in sitter process and maintains regulatory compliance
• Performs nonsterile wound care dressings, replaces and removes saline locks, and conducts colostomy bag changes (as competency appropriate)

Requirements

Must be able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks. These classes are mandatory!

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in direct patient care preferred
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
• AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire

Skills

Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
