About the role

Join HonorHealth's Diagnostic Care Unit (DCU), a fast-paced procedural care environment that supports Pre and Post procedures for Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) and Interventional Radiology (IR) patients. The DCU cares for approximately 17-35 patients daily across 15 patient bays, 2 procedure bays, and infusion chairs for post-procedure care, creating a dynamic environment with high patient turnover. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, adaptable caregiver who enjoys working collaboratively in a high-volume procedural unit while making a meaningful impact on patient care.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Provides patient-related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit. Assists, observes, and reports patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered.

Essential Functions

  • Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under supervisor of nurse.
  • Assists, observes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation in relation to the care delivered.
  • Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

In this hands-on role, PCTs are actively involved in patient care by:

  • Obtaining vital signs, weights, and EKGs
  • Preparing patients for procedures
  • Assisting with room turnover and patient flow
  • Transporting STAT laboratory specimens
  • Maintaining supplies
  • Partnering closely with nursing staff throughout the patient experience

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year
  • 6 months in acute care experience (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Preferred

Schedule

Full-time Day shift working 4-10 hour shifts from 6:00 AM–4:30 PM with no weekends or holidays.
