About the role
The primary purpose of the Patient Care Technician (Certified) (Inpatient) position is to deliver safe, quality patient/family focused care and services under the direction of a Professional Registered Nurse. This role is a member of a designated care team and collaborates with team members to achieve goals.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, quality patient/family focused care and services under the direction of a Professional Registered Nurse.
- Collaborate with team members in achieving goals.
- Provide care that is congruent with the patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations.
- Ensure patient/family goals are achieved, patient safety is maintained, and patient/family satisfaction is high.
- Document care and services thoroughly as dictated by policy and procedure.
- Conduct oneself according to the behavioral expectations articulated for this role.
Qualifications
- Certified as a Patient Care Technician by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to lift/move patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize the activities of multiple patients.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Required Skills
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Any other skills and abilities needed.
