Patient Care Technician I, ICU

About the role

The Patient Care Tech I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, secretarial functions and some basic nursing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform secretarial duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
• Assist nurses with patient care tasks as directed.
• Provide basic nursing support, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications as ordered.
• Organize and maintain confidential patient information and ensure smooth workflow.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• Completion of third year in the AA Early College Program of a community college and provide transcripts to HR.
• Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services.
• One year of experience in an acute care setting, preferably as a unit secretary or Nurse Aide I.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Current BLS certification.
