Patient Care Technician (PCT, EMT, CNA) CCU
Location: Backus Hospital (Norwich, CT)
Shift: 7:00pm–3:30am, every other weekend, every other holiday
About the role
Under the supervision of a Nurse Leader, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs specific duties that support patient care, including direct and indirect patient-care activities essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment. This position delivers and coordinates comprehensive care in accordance with all regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures, and ensures a positive patient experience. The role operates in a high-activity environment with multiple priorities and requires flexibility in scheduling.
Additional responsibilities and career-advancement opportunities are available through a clinical ladder for PCTs based on experience, skill sets, and certifications held.
Responsibilities
- Perform selected interventions and activities that contribute to comprehensive patient care.
- Support direct and indirect patient-care activities to maintain a safe and efficient care environment.
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure a positive patient experience.
Qualifications
- No prior experience required; on-site training provided.
- Successful completion of PCT-specific Hartford HealthCare orientation.
- Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Relevant experience in an acute-care hospital environment.
- Current certified BLS Provider credential from the AHA.
- Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT, or CMA to qualify for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder.
