Patient Care Technician / PCT / Complex Med 5G
About the role
Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including but not limited to: cleaning the patient's room, operating various clinical equipment, helping with emergencies, assisting with patient procedures, collecting and transporting patient specimens and completing applicable forms. Communicates with patients, families and members of the patient care team. Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies. Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN. Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided. Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment. Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometer, sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, and computers. Records patient intake and output. Assists RN/LPN in providing patient care according to individual needs by assisting with range of motion, ambulation, patient transfers, diet, elimination and hygiene. Observes and reports significant or unusual information about the patient and environment to the RN/LPN and documents appropriately and in a timely manner. Transports patients and patient specimens throughout the hospital as needed. Contributes to the completion of patient admission, transfer, and discharge. Assists with postmortem care. Utilizes appropriate technology to complete all related processes.

Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- BLS required
- Must meet one of the following requirements: One year of direct patient care experience, Successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through State of Georgia, OR Current enrollment in a nursing program and completion of 2 clinical rotations
