Patient Care Technician (PCT, CNA, EMT) Emergency Room
About the Role
Under the supervision of a Nurse Leader, the Patient Care Tech is responsible for performing specific duties that support patient care, including direct and indirect patient care activities essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment. This position performs selected interventions and activities that contribute to comprehensive patient care, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. Along with the care team, this role ensures a positive patient experience.
This role operates in a high-activity work environment with multiple priorities and requires flexibility in scheduling. Additional responsibilities and career advancement opportunities are available through a clinical ladder for Patient Care Techs based on experience, skillsets, and certifications held.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct and indirect patient care activities to support a safe and efficient care environment.
- Execute selected interventions and activities contributing to comprehensive patient care.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Adapt to a high-activity work environment with shifting priorities.
Qualifications
- No prior experience required; on-site training provided.
- Successful completion of PCT-specific HHC orientation.
- Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 months (60 days) of hire or job transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Relevant experience in an acute care hospital environment.
- Current certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT, or CMA to be eligible for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder.
