Overview
Fresenius Medical Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time. This role involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening clinics early in the morning.
Job Description
Patient Care Technicians at Fresenius Medical Care support the multidisciplinary team in delivering superior care to patients. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in patient education regarding dialysis adequacy measures.
- Welcome and inquire about patients' wellbeing.
- Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin.
- Obtain vital signs and weight before and after treatment.
- Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment according to orders.
- Document patient responses and interventions.
- Evaluate vascular access and provide appropriate interventions.
- Prepare and collect necessary laboratory tests.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of equipment.
- Train and assist in training other staff.
- Record and document treatment data accurately.
- Support infection control practices and educate patients.
- Coordinate transitional care and supply ordering.
Success Profile
A qualified candidate should have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, along with a genuine passion for improving patients' quality of life.
