Patient Care Technician - PCT

Overview

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time. This role involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening clinics at 4 am for the first shift.

Job Description

Patient Care Technicians at Fresenius Medical Care support the multidisciplinary team in delivering superior care that improves the quality of life of every patient, every day. Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain and review vital signs and weight before and after treatment.
• Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
• Evaluate and intervene for intradialytic problems as directed.
• Document patient responses and complete treatment sheets accurately.
• Ensure safety alarms are enabled and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Prepare and organize supplies to prevent wastage.
• Monitor patients' self-care and assist in training direct patient care staff.

Success Profile

Successful candidates should have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience. They should also possess a combination of technical skills and genuine passion for developing deep relationships with patients and improving their quality of life.
