Patient Care Technician (PCT) - 1 North/Telemetry - Part Time Evenings

Welcome to Holy Name, a medical center committed to providing unparalleled care and education. As a Patient Care Technician, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the nursing team and enhancing the patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care procedures under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Reports pertinent observations to the RN.
• Takes patient's vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and patient identified pain score).
• Maintains accurate Intake and Output on patients as assigned.
• Aids in personal hygiene care for patients: complete and partial bed baths, tub baths, showers, PM Care, incontinence skin care, hair and nail care, shampoos, and shaving.
• Assists with meal preparation and feeding patients who cannot feed themselves.
• Distributes additional nutrition and drinking water.
• Collects routine specimens of urine, sputum, and feces.
• Performs treatments such as enemas, ice collar, sitz baths, perineal care, Foley catheter care, SCD boots, and TEDs as per RN instruction.
• Assists with cardiac monitor leads and pulse oximetry placement as directed.
• Empties drainage bags/canisters, measures contents, and records on I&O.
• Assists with post-mortem care.
• Assists patients getting into or out of bed, walking, using safe lift equipment, positioning patients, and transporting patients as requested.
• Assists in restraining patients as ordered by the physician and directed by RN.
• Cleans and organizes bedside units, utility rooms, nourishment areas, and nurses' station.
• Cleans and cares for unit equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of relevant or related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Strong interpersonal and team skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for actions.

Skills

• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00/hour - $22.50/hour.
