Patient Care Technician – Ortho / Trauma Unit

Overview

Sentara is hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the 3 West Ortho/Trauma Unit. Hours are full-time, night shift, approximately 7pm to 7am.

Department/Position Overview

The 3 West Ortho/Trauma unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General specializes in providing expert care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and related complications. Our unit is comprised of 24 in-patient beds. Our patient population includes admissions from the Ortho Joint, Spine, Fracture, and Ortho/Trauma centers, as well as medical/surgical patients. Located just 10 minutes from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront!

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• One of the following certifications/licenses:
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
• Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT
• Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant

Experience

One year of prior health care experience preferred.
