About the role
Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician on the Ortho/ Med Surg Unit 1 East to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk.
Department/Position Overview
This 24-bed unit works with patients that have had Orthopedic Surgery and med/surg patients as needed. The majority of our patients have had joint replacements, spine surgery or hand surgery. The ortho techs on the unit will also be assisting with the mobility of the patients. You will receive specialized ortho training on the best practices of caring for these types of patients. We welcome interviewed applicants to shadow the unit to see what we are all about.
Education
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
- Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
- Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
- Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT
- Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
Experience
One year of prior health care experience preferred.
