Patient Care Technician - Med/Surg

About the role

The Patient Care Technician position at Sentara Health offers the opportunity to gain new skills in patient care, including vital signs, blood draws, bathing, and daily care. This role supports the admission/discharge process and meets patient needs under the supervision of a nurse.

Responsibilities

• Supports the admission/discharge process
• Changes, bathes, and ambulates patients
• Drawing blood and Foley catheter care
• Maintains patient needs while working under direct supervision of a nurse

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One or more of the following certifications/licenses: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, LPN, RT, PT
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program or current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant

Qualifications

• Previous direct care experience preferred
