Patient Care Technician Intensive Care

Responsibilities

• Provides patient related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit.
• Affords and observes patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered.
• Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Required
• Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year Required
• 6 months in acute care experience. Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
• Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Emergency Medical Tech Preferred

Qualifications

Join a highly collaborative Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team caring for critically ill patients in a secure, approximately 40-bed unit split between North and South campuses. This unique Patient Care Technician/Health Unit Coordinator hybrid role offers the opportunity to support both clinical and administrative operations by assisting nurses with unit coordination, patient transport, specimen collection, family support, and general patient care needs. Nurses maintain primary responsibility for direct patient care and typically care for two patients at a time, allowing PCTs to provide valuable support across the unit. This role is ideal for nursing students, aspiring ICU nurses, or individuals looking to build a strong foundation in critical care. Successful candidates will have acute care hospital experience, be compassionate, emotionally resilient, and comfortable supporting patients and families through both recovery and end-of-life situations while being part of a dedicated team committed to exceptional patient care.

Self-scheduling for shift and weekend coverage. Weekend and Holiday Rotations are required in this role. Weekend shift differentials are offered, along with evening and night shift differentials where applicable.
