About the role
The Patient Care Technician II assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patient and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include but are not limited to secretarial functions and NA II skills.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff.
- Performs secretarial functions including documentation, scheduling, and communication.
- Provides support to the nursing team in maintaining a smooth workflow.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient information and maintains patient care records accurately.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adheres to established policies and procedures related to patient care and confidentiality.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency required.
- Nurses Aide I certification listed with Division of Facility Services and Nurses Aide II certification by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Some understanding of medical terminology.
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurses Aide I or Nurses Aide II is preferred.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
- Ability to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care, maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the nursing unit(s).

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Hours are typically full-time, but part-time schedules may be available.
