About the role

The Certified Patient Care Technician (PCT) functions as a nursing assistant in performing duties as assigned by the RN. This is a full-time, night-shift position in the Inpatient Medical Surgical department.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs and measurements (e.g., heights, weights, head circumference).
  • Provide or assist with basic care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Help with emergency department/clinic visits, patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Assist with customer service needs.
  • Complete patient care (including vital signs, intake/output, ADLs) safely, efficiently, and timely as delegated by licensed nursing staff.
  • Document patient care and assignments according to department guidelines.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge as directed by licensed staff.
  • Communicate patient/family information, specific needs, and requests to other healthcare team members to individualize the patient plan of care.
  • Act as a courier between ancillary departments to meet daily unit/department requirements.
  • Perform clerical duties such as serving as a receptionist, managing telephones, obtaining supplies and equipment, and creating admission or informational packets.
  • Ensure patient supplies and equipment are organized, clean, and properly restocked for optimal cost-effectiveness and availability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • One of the following certifications is required:
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – National Workforce Career Association (NWCA).
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Arkansas Department of Long Term Care.
    • Registered Medical Assistant – Unknown Issuer.

Recommended: Completion of a semester of healthcare curriculum or 1 year of technician experience.

Pay

Most new hires start between $15.30–$19.10 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full time, night shift.
