About the role
The Patient Care Tech I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, secretarial functions and some basic nursing skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform secretarial duties such as typing, filing, and answering phones
- Assist with patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff
- Provide support in maintaining a safe and organized work environment
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure smooth workflow
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency
- Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services
- One year of experience in an acute care setting, preferably as a unit secretary or Nurse Aide I
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Current BLS certification
Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit(s)
- Must have the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements
- Maintain current BLS certification

Pay
Salary range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule
Hours may vary based on department needs, typically Monday through Friday, with potential for weekend and holiday shifts.
