Patient Care Technician I, Nephrology
About the role
The Patient Care Tech I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, secretarial functions and some NA I skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform secretarial functions as directed by the nursing staff.
- Assist with patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff.
- Organize confidential clerical responsibilities and maintain workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
- Relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalency.
- Completion of third year in the AA Early College Program of a community college and provide transcripts to HR.
- Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services.
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurse Aide I preferred.
- Able to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care, maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
- Able to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
Qualifications
- Some understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
- Knowledge of unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.
Skills

- Basic computer skills.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Hours are typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
