Patient Care Technician I, Nephrology

About the role

The Patient Care Tech I assists the nursing staff by performing assigned duties for patients and staff under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include, but are not limited to, secretarial functions and some NA I skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform secretarial functions as directed by the nursing staff.
• Assist with patient care activities as directed by the nursing staff.
• Organize confidential clerical responsibilities and maintain workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
• Relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalency.
• Completion of third year in the AA Early College Program of a community college and provide transcripts to HR.
• Nurses Aide I certificate listed with the North Carolina Department of Facilities Services.
• At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, either as a unit secretary or as a Nurse Aide I preferred.
• Able to organize confidential clerical responsibilities and patient care, maintaining workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
• Able to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication.
• Maintain current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Some understanding of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
• Knowledge of unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.

Skills

• Basic computer skills.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours are typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
