About the role
Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and accurately document patient conditions
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate the plan of care
- Ensure patient safety through fall prevention measures and strict adherence to safety protocols
- Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Provide wound care and manage orthopedic devices
- Conduct blood glucose testing
- Maintain a safe and organized clinical environment
- Actively participate in patient rounding and promptly respond to alarms
- Contribute to patient comfort and efficient clinical flow
- Fulfill all other duties as assigned in a full-time capacity
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team
- Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and performing effectively under pressure
- Capability to learn and utilize computer systems
- Accurately conduct blood glucose testing and documentation
- Competently execute delegated nursing responsibilities to meet diverse patient needs
Work Experience
Although prior experience is not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates with direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
