About the role
DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide care in an outpatient dialysis center. The role involves caring for patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease, delivering care in an empathetic, compassionate manner.
Responsibilities
- Spend the majority of your day in direct patient care, monitoring patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Measure and record stats, perform patient observations, and set up hemodialysis machines.
- Build long-term relationships with patients, who receive treatment 3 times per week on average.
- Provide education on kidney dialysis-related topics to patients.
- Work as part of a cross-functional team including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
- Operate under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Requirements
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for others in need.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfortable working around blood and needles.
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet, so wear comfortable shoes.
- Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
- Health care experience a plus, including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
Qualifications
Some Details About This Position:
- Dialysis experience is required.
- Training may take place in a facility or a training clinic other than your assigned home clinic.
- Float to various clinics during and after your training.
- You must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
