Join our high-performing, fast-paced 32-bed inpatient unit as a Patient Care Technician. Our PCTs support a diverse population of medical and orthopedic patients with an average PCT-to-patient ratio of 8–9:1 on the night shift (1800–0630). Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs while providing excellent customer service.
  • Report and record patient care findings and data in a timely manner; report changes in patient condition quickly and secure qualified assistance as needed.
  • Perform telemetry duties as required and function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients, addressing patient care needs, and collaborating with the patient care team.
  • Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required.
  • Collaborate and consult with the RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assume responsibilities of a health unit coordinator, including answering phones, transcribing physician orders, managing unit records, organizing, stocking, and maintaining unit supplies.
  • Implement plan of care as delegated.
  • Perform assigned duties within Scope of Practice and specialized procedures with skill validation according to regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

At the time of hire, Utah candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the state of Utah.
  • If CNA certificate is expired, must be renewed before start date.
  • Completion of a recent Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program (verification required; program must have been completed within the past year). CNA certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire.
  • Completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing Course with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required). CNA certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.
  • Current enrollment in a nursing school program.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care and accessing information.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining/distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving: expected to drive a vehicle, which requires sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Schedule

  • Full time and part time available.
  • Night shift: 1800–0630.
  • Must have availability during the week with some weekend and holiday requirements.

Pay

$18.40 - $23.92 per hour (actual rate dependent upon experience).
