About the role

The Critical Care/CCU Department at Boston Medical Center provides critical care nursing to complex cardiology patients. The position involves performing various patient care interventions under the direction of RNs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of patient care interventions such as obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care department, ensuring a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic math and computer proficiency.
  • One of the following: one year of previous experience as a CNA/PCT in an acute hospital setting, currently enrolled in a nursing program, completed an approved certified nursing assistant training, or completed an approved certified medical assistant training.
  • One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only).
  • Fluency in another language a plus.
  • Previous medical/surgical experience preferred.
