Patient Care Technician - Cardiovascular Surgery Stepdown Unit

Employment Type: Full time (non-exempt). Rotating schedule: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm & 7:00 pm – 7:30 am, including every other weekend and holiday. Initial training occurs during the day shift.

About the role

Delivers direct patient care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications. Is accountable for the patient care delivered and adheres to St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center standards of care and practice.

Responsibilities

• Bedside patient care
• Obtain and record patient vitals
• Patient positioning and feeding
• Perform phlebotomy and EKG

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (required)
• Medical background, mechanical aptitude, and manual dexterity (preferred)
• Basic computer skills (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification; First Aid training provided upon hire
• Participates in orientation, continuing education, and annual population-specific competency updates

Work Environment

• Office/clinical setting (Exposure Class I)
• Heavy work: frequent standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying

Pay

Pay range: $17.25 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions are paid within the base-salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates; actual pay may vary by location.
