Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information (HIPAA)
- Greet and escort patient to the pre-op area to begin the admission process
- Provide basic care such as, but not limited to, obtain vital signs, document on appropriate electronic platforms and paper forms and notify registered nurses of any abnormal results or patient behaviors and responses
- Assist staff with turnover of patient care area by cleaning and restocking as needed
- Under the supervision of a nurse, turn, position and/or mobilize patients and assist with caring for their needs with a focus on progress towards discharge
- Under the direction of a nurse, assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL) such as assisting with ambulation, helping patient to the restroom, dressing to go home, assisting patient to car
- Participates in the creation and maintenance of clean and safe environment of care, restocks supplies needed in the PACU
- May assist in unpacking, delivery and storage of supply orders under direction of Materials Coordinator
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1- 3 years of experience in a medical setting preferred
- Pre/Post-Op experience desired
- Ability to squat, bend, twist and lift up to 50 pounds periodically
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills, including the use of electronic medical records (EMR)
- CPR Preferred
