Patient Care Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform EKGs with accuracy and in a timely manner.
• Collect and label diagnostic specimens for laboratory processing following proper protocols.
• Apply and secure splints or immobilizers to stabilize extremities as directed by a licensed provider.
• Provide wound care, dressing changes, and other basic clinical interventions as trained and directed.
• Safely lift, reposition, and transport patients using proper body mechanics and equipment.
• Absorb and respond promptly to call bells and patient needs, ensuring a high standard of care and service.
• Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other staff to coordinate and prioritize patient care.
• Prepare equipment, supplies, and patient areas to support emergency care procedures.
• Complete clerical functions such as chart documentation, managing patient records, and facilitating communication within the department.
• Assist with tracking supplies and maintaining an organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant, EMT or physician office patient care experience.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Assistant or have begun clinical rotations within a Registered Nursing (RN) program.
• Current CPR certification required.
• AVADE training (or equivalent workplace violence prevention training) must be completed within six months of employment.
