Patient Care Tech - Surgical (PT, Nights)

About the role

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO
Department: 5H Surgical
Status: Part-Time (24 hours/week)
Shift: Nights (6:30pm - 7:00am)

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of RN or LPN
• Perform clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care
• Collaborate with healthcare team to achieve patient wellness goals

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D (required)
• BLS certification required within one month of hire
• Completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or previous patient care experience (e.g., PCA, CNA, or active nursing student)
• Enrolled in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum
• Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA), or Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT)
• Current Mercy co-worker

Experience

• No experience required; if none, will be considered for PCA role with a required 175-hour training program completed within 90 days of hire

Physical Requirements

• Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Prolonged standing and walking each shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
