Patient Care Tech - PRN - Emergency Department
About the role
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a clinical position responsible for the delivery of direct patient care, utilizing the established standards of care and standards practice for the patient population it serves. Through collaboration with all members of the health-care team, the PCT strives to support a patient-centered culture and gain knowledge and skills to further the practice of quality patient services provided at WMRMC.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care according to established standards of care and standards practice.
- Collaborate with all members of the health-care team to support a patient-centered culture.
- Exercise independent judgement in applying professional knowledge required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified responsibilities in the delivery of quality patient care.
- Function under the direction of an RN, reporting to the Resource Nurse and/or the Chief Nursing Officer.
- Work in a safety-sensitive role subject to WMRMC's Drug & Alcohol Policy.
Requirements
- Paramedic certification preferred but not required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess medical training most often achieved through completion of an EMT or certified nursing assistant program.
Qualifications
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Preferred licenses and certifications include a current AZ CNA certification or current EMT/AEMT/Paramedic certification with legally recognized scope of practice equal to or greater than that of a CNA in the State of AZ.
Skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of patient care protocols and emergency response procedures.
