Job Summary
Affords patients with activities of daily living, administers basic nursing care to acutely ill patients, and maintains a safe and clean environment under the guidance of the nursing staff. Performs other tasks as directed within the limits of their educational background and certification.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides care appropriate to the patient's condition and age, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
- Assists with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Performs general nursing care to help patients complete activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating, maintaining continence, and transferring/mobility.
- Distributes drinking water and snacks to patients as necessary.
- Answers patients' call lights, anticipates needs, and conducts rounds on assigned patients.
- Reports patient complaints of pain to nursing staff.
- Monitors patient's mental and physical conditions; reports any changes to nursing staff.
- Knowledgeable in infection prevention and control procedures.
- Ensures patient rooms are clean and pathways are clear to prevent injuries.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with nursing and medical staff.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to handle stressful situations.
- Documents patient care in accordance with current standards and policies.

- Participates in performance improvement activities and demonstrates knowledge of unit goals.

- Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.
Education/Certification/Licensure
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Current CNA certification in the state of Oklahoma.
- Current BLS certification (or obtained within 30 days).
Experience
One (1) year of clinical experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, tugging, and reaching.
- Physical strength and agility to position patients for bathing and various examinations and procedures.
